About D Dance Theatre

D Dance Theatre Community Interest Company was founded on 18th December 2017 to help support over 50s in Oulton and surrounding areas - bringing them together with Dance, Fun and Social Activities.

Our first project at D Dance Theatre was funded through "a contract with Leeds Community Foundation to deliver a Time to Shine small funds project". This offers mature people their Time to Shine via performance and learning the skill of Bollywood dance whilst feeling the benefits to their health and well being. We aim to reduce loneliness within Oulton and Crossgates for mature people and create a sense of community - while at the same time improving fitness levels and having a 'Bolly' good dance!

Our Teacher, Nandu

Nandu is a dance teacher with over 4 years of teaching experience and 16 years of training in styles including Indian classical dance, Bollywood and Hip Hop.

Engaging and well-structured sessions that balance learning with creativity, using interactive activities to keep dancers motivated and involved. Nandu adapts her approach to suit a wide range of abilities, including working with elderly individuals, people with disabilities, and those with long-term health conditions, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.

Encouraging confidence, self-expression, and a sense of community, while also promoting physical and mental well-being through mindful and enjoyable movement
